Xbox LIVE Arcade - Dash of Destruction
"Free 200 Gamerscore."
Official Description:
"Dash your way through the city as a hungry Tyrannosaurus Rex in search of a Doritos delivery truck, or as a terrified truck zooming in and out of the T-Rex's path of destruction in search of its drop-off points. Enjoy the fast-paced action as a single player or join with friends!"
Cost:
Free.
Impressions:
For an arcade game, its alright. Being free makes it even better. Its single player mode is short, but has two versions of it. As it said in the description, you can play as the T-Rex or the Doritos truck.
The goal of the T-Rex is to eat the trucks before they can make their deliveries. The trucks want to make all the deliveries before being eaten.
There isn't really much else to say on the matter.
Graphics:
For a free game, it actually looks pretty nice. It uses a 3D type engine to render out the levels and players. Cars explode when they are ate, buildings crumble and clutter around the area. Everything is kept simple otherwise, nothing too fancy.
Controls:
The controls feel very sluggish when trying to make precise turns as both the T-Rex and the truck. They are kept simple and to the point. Left analog stick to move and A to do your ability (T-Rex: Eat. Truck: Turbo boost.).
Sound:
It has two or so music tracks that play throughout the entire game. Both get very repetitive if you're just sitting there listening to them. They don't stand out at all really.
As for the sound effects, those are actually a pretty nice touch. Breaking buildings makes the sound of falling rumble and breaking glass. Stepping on cars makes the sound of small rumbling. The trucks make a swerving sound when using the turbo boost and scream when ate by the T-Rex.
Its all decent quality and is a bit enjoyable.
Gameplay:
I did a bit of detailing of the gameplay here and there. Its a fast paced game when playing with friends, single player is slower, but not slow paced.
Its alright, but it doesn't last long in extended play.
Final Score:
Its an alright game, but it doesn't stand out. It is free however and it is an easy 200 gamerscore. If anything, get it for the 200 points.
